My name is Jacob. I am a proud member of Boy Scout Troop 252, based in Springfield, Vermont. My Scouting journey began in 2017 when I joined Cub Scouts, marking the start of a path that has taught me countless lessons and shaped who I am today. During my time in Cub Scouts, I gained essential foundational skills, including wilderness survival techniques, basic first aid, and the values of teamwork and perseverance. These early experiences sparked a passion for learning and personal growth that continued to develop as I transitioned into Boy Scouts.
As a Boy Scout, I’ve had the opportunity to build upon those skills through more challenging adventures and greater responsibilities. Scouting has taught me not only how to be self-reliant and resourceful but also how to lead with integrity and serve with compassion. One of the most impactful lessons I've learned is the importance of community service and giving back to others. This understanding played a key role in inspiring the idea behind my Eagle Scout project. This project provides me with an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in my community and put the values of Scouting into action.
I am working toward achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank in Scouting. To achieve this rank, I must complete an Eagle Scout project that demonstrates leadership and benefits the community. For my project, I have decided to enhance the playing experience for Chester Town youth athletes by coordinating the purchasing and installation of a scoreboard at Cobleigh Field, a local recreation softball field. A prerequisite of the project is that I raise the funds through gifts and donations from the community for the project, and to solicit volunteers to assist with the installation. This project reflects two important goals of mine: giving back to the community that has raised me and earning the Eagle Scout rank. Contributing to my community has always been important to me, and this project provides a meaningful opportunity to do just that.
A key part of this project is that I’m responsible for raising all the funds needed to complete it. This means planning, budgeting, and finding creative ways to secure the financial support required from start to finish.
The bar visually represents both my overall fundraising goal and the progress I’ve made so far.
